AHN achieved a major milestone in lung cancer care: completing 1,000 robotic-assisted bronchoscopies using the Ion by Intuitive system, more than any other health system in Pennsylvania. This advanced technology helps physicians detect lung cancer earlier by navigating to hard-to-reach areas of the lung with unprecedented precision. Honoring the Swoope Family's Enduring Legacy
The AHN Neuroscience Institute was honored to unveil a special tribute embodying the philanthropic spirit of the Swoope family and their commitment to our community. This artwork, created by Sofia Swoope, is dedicated in honor of her late father, Bill Swoope IV. Additionally, the snack shop space in the newly enhanced Neuroscience Center at Allegheny General Hospital was officially dedicated “Bill’s Snack Shop.” The Swoope Family started the William Swoop Fund for Parkinson’s Research to support a pathway to finding a cure.
“When my dad was diagnosed with a rare form of Parkinson’s disease, he thought a lot about what he would “leave behind”. He left behind a lifetime of stories; each of those stories left behind a memorable impression of kindness, openness and humor. I am leaving behind more of him here, and maybe the art will leave something behind in you.”
— Fia Swoope IV
