Dear AHN: Letter from a Grateful Patient
Most people don't think about cancer care until they need it – for themselves or a loved one. When a patient needs cancer care, the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cancer Institute will be ready with the Cancer Navigation Team, who specializes in all cancers and helps patients with everything from scheduling appointments, to answering financial questions, to providing emotional support and more. They manage all the details, big and small, so patients can focus on getting better.
Gifts from our generous donors have a meaningful impact and make AHN’s comprehensive cancer care possible. As part of the “Dear AHN” campaign, current and past AHN Cancer Institute patients were asked to nominate someone who made a difference in their cancer journey by writing a letter of thanks. View this video, featuring Jennifer Griffin, VP of Development, AHN Cancer Institute, reading a surprise letter from Robert, an AHN cancer patient.

AHN Expands Traumatic Brain Injury Research with Donor Support
Thanks to The Chuck Noll Foundation, the AHN Neuroscience Institute received grant funding to advance research on traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University. With this generous support, Director of Translational Research, Dr. Boyle Cheng, and other collaborators will explore new methods for diagnosing, treating, and preventing TBI, which is a critical health concern for athletes, veterans, and others. This grant reinforces AHN's commitment to improving brain health and addressing long-term effects of head injuries.

A History of AHN Saint Vincent Hospital: 1875
Mother Agnes Spencer helped found Saint Vincent Hospital and became its first administrator. She was committed to enhancing the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was instrumental in meeting the needs of the community. She was a visionary. Soon after the hospital was founded, plans for a larger facility were created. With the help of philanthropy, the hospital soon expanded with a new OR 18 feet by 18 feet which included hot and cold water.
