Transforming AHN Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) Campus
Highmark Health and AHN are investing $1 billion to renovate AGH, AHN’s flagship academic medical center that will focus on three key pillars: the AHN Neuroscience Institute, AHN Cardiovascular Institute, and AHN Cancer Institute.
Last fall, we introduced to you the plans for a pioneering Neuroscience Institute facility which will serve as a ‘one-stop’ Living Health destination for the acute treatment and long-term holistic management of neurological diseases. The 10-year plan also includes a new cardiovascular tower which will serve as a state-of-the-art nexus of diagnostic, medical and surgical care for patients with heart and vascular disease, including transplantation.

AHN Recognized for Supporting Health Worker Well-Being and Destigmatizing Mental Health Access
AHN is the first and only healthcare system in Pennsylvania, and 1 of only 18 in the U.S., to receive the "WellBeing First Champion" designation for 2024. To achieve this status, AHN has verified that our physician and advanced practice provider (APP) credentialing applications are free from intrusive and stigmatizing language around mental healthcare and treatment. This means that our physicians and APPs can seek needed care without fear of losing their license or job when completing credentialing or reappointment applications or can apply for AHN roles without fear of how past mental health diagnoses might impact their job prospects.

AHN Offers Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program
Since 2001, the EITC program has allowed businesses and individuals to lower their tax bills by donating to approved Education Improvement Organizations (EIOs) like AHN Chill Project—the first and only program at AHN approved to accept EITC funding.
Funding support will be used to expand behavioral health access to underserved school communities. Businesses can donate up to $750,000 each year and claim 75-90 percent of that donation as a credit that offsets their state tax bill. The credit can increase to 90 percent with a commitment of donating funds for two consecutive years.
We thank these donors who have already supported AHN this way:
- Baird
- Dollar Bank
- Buncher Company
