Keeping Parents Close in the NICU

Be A Hero

With machines beeping and nurses pacing, NICU units can be a far cry from the image many parents have of cuddling their newborns in a cozy nursery. But a new program from Slippery Rock University aims to improve the NICU experience for both the babies and their parents. Rock-A-Bye Baby has parents record themselves reading a children’s book to create a recordable book library for NICUs to use. NICU nurses can help parents stay connected to their infants by playing the recordings when they are unable to be there.
