A Message from Dr. Klein-Patel
Dr. Klein-Patel

As chair of the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Women’s Institute, I oversee obstetrics, gynecology, gynecological oncology, urogynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility across the network’s acute-care hospitals.

I joined AHN’s West Penn Hospital as an attending physician and director of resident research in 2013, where I co-founded AHN’s first midlife gynecology and menopausal medicine practice. Since then I've led numerous initiatives focused on improving the patient experience and boosting operational excellence for the AHN Women’s Institute.

When I became chair during COVID-19, I felt it couldn’t be a distraction from our clinical goals. We continued to focus on high quality, safety, and access for our patients. Moving forward, we plan to further develop our Centers of Excellence, particularly in the areas of pelvic health, endometriosis and reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and continue to cultivate our relationship with Johns Hopkins Medicine.

I’m honored to share a few stories of your impact on the AHN Women’s Institute, and I invite you to connect with us to learn more about the high-level, individualized care you made possible.

Dr. Marcia Klein-Patel, MD
Chair of the AHN Women’s Institute

An 'Attitude of Gratitude' at AHN
Dr. Kolthoff
