Glimmer of Hope Foundation Launches Comprehensive "Mind, Body, Care" Breast Cancer Initiative

A $140,000 gift from Glimmer of Hope Foundation is bringing new resources to breast cancer patients across Western Pennsylvania. The "Mind, Body, Care" initiative expands behavioral health services for metastatic breast cancer patients, introduces contrast-enhanced mammography at AHN Allegheny General Hospital and provides SuzziPads — cold-therapy devices that help reduce chemotherapy-related nerve damage — at five AHN Cancer Institute locations. The gift builds on Glimmer of Hope's decades-long partnership with AHN and its commitment to caring for the whole patient.

PNC Park transformed into a hub for mental health awareness as AHN Chill Mobile hosted a special Mental Health Action Game during the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. San Diego Padres matchup. The event prominently recognized Chill Mobile’s generous donors for AHN Chill Project, including Pirates Charities, A.J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust, Highmark Health, Allegheny County and Firewater Response, whose vital contributions help bring evidence-based coping skills and interactive mental health experiences directly to students across the region.

AHN Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute Unveils New Hub at Federal North Building

After more than 30 years at Four Allegheny Center, AHN's Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute has moved into a new 10,000-square-foot home on Pittsburgh's North Side. The new space houses specialized programs including the Center for Psychiatric Neuromodulation, the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents, and the Center for Adult Anxiety Disorders and OCD, as well as primary care, women's health, pediatrics and other services already based at Federal North. A new Austin's Playroom, made possible by the Mario Lemieux Foundation, provides a welcoming space for younger patients and their families.

Maroon, MD, Endowed Chair for Neurological Surgery Resident Education and Research.

Women's Heart Program Hosts Heart-Healthy Luncheon for Patients and Community Partners

Dr. Indu Poornima, director of the Women’s Heart Program, hosted a heart-healthy luncheon to encourage cardiovascular disease prevention and wellness. A vegetarian meal encouraged a healthier, vegetable-forward diet, while ECMO discussions and patient speakers were deeply moving and highly impactful. Guests included patients, nurses, AHN leaders and foundations such as A Glimmer of Hope, which supports the cardio-oncology program at the AHN Cardiovascular Institute.
