2025 Impact Oct Enews PIPHonoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Throughout October, AHN recognizes and supports those affected by breast cancer, a commitment strengthened by our proud partnership with the Glimmer of Hope Foundation. Because of the generous support of donors like Glimmer, AHN has been able to launch groundbreaking programs that care for the whole person, not just the disease.

Our Cardio-Oncology Program ensures vital heart care during breast cancer treatment, while our Behavioral Health Pilot Program provides mental health support, equipping women and families to face difficult times with hope. We deeply appreciate Glimmer of Hope's partnership, which exemplifies how philanthropy and medicine can unite to change and save lives.

Caring for the Caregivers

When John Maslany lost his wife, Pam, to cancer in 2024, he leaned on friends who had walked the same path. What he discovered, though, was a gap in support for caregivers — the ones carrying the quiet weight of fear, exhaustion, and love. Now, John is partnering with AHN’s Cancer Patient Ambassador Program to build a new branch dedicated to caregivers. His commitment to AHN Cancer Institute's mission extends further through his philanthropic support. Together, they are creating a place where those supporting loved ones through cancer can share their struggles, find understanding, and know they are not alone.

NSI Campaign SpotlightFrom Innovative Idea to Impact

As part of AHN’s commitment to meet the growing demand of patients challenged by neurological conditions, the new Allegheny Neuro-Technology Innovation Center (ANTIC) has launched as a unique center within AHN Neuroscience. ANTIC’s goal is to improve patient care and engage residents and clinicians in creating new solutions.

ANTIC harnesses the power of new ideas to:

  • Create a convening place: Give residents & clinicians space at Allegheny General to brainstorm & problem-solve.
  • Work together: Encourage different medical teams to collaborate.
  • Develop new ideas: Help clinicians turn their innovative ideas into real-world tools.

By doing these things, ANTIC will efficiently transition new technologies from idea to solution, improving patient and family health. Learn how you can partner with ANTIC to advance cutting-edge care in the neurosciences!
